This book is devoted to the topic of general semiotics. It formulates some of the central laws and parameters of the paradigm of general semiotics, and illustrates them with various examples from branch semiotics – from the systems of semiotics of that are already in use in particular fields of endeavour. These laws and illustrations will prove useful for every distinct instance of branch semiotics, both those that are already well-established and those that will appear in the future.
Abraham Solomonick’s main academic and professional interests are lexicography and the teaching of foreign languages. He is also deeply involved in the field of semiotics, having written a number of books and articles and spoken at international conferences regarding this discipline. In addition to developing his own concept of general semiotics, Abraham has also applied it to various branches within this field, including the semiotics of linguistics, pedagogy, advertising, and cartography.
