"e;Love or Lust"e; follows the lives of three best friends - Lindsay, Diana, and Shaniqua - after they graduate from high school in Raleigh, North Carolina. Their paths diverge as they embark on different journeys. Diana heads west to San Diego, California to pursue her college education. Shaniqua moves to New York City with plans to study law. Meanwhile, Lindsay decides to stay closer to home to care for her terminally ill mother. As the friends navigate their new environments and first tastes of independence, they grapple with profound questions about love, relationships, and their own identities as young adults. In San Diego, Diana likely faces temptations and distractions beyond just academics on a college campus. Shaniqua immerses herself in the fast-paced New York life as a law student. And Lindsay confronts the emotional challenges of watching her mother's health decline. The novel seems to explore whether the profound bonds of their longtime friendship can survive as they make momentous personal decisions about their romantic lives and careers. Will their choices lead to lasting love or merely lust and fleeting distractions? The book appears to follow their separate journeys while reflecting on the enduring power of their lifelong connection.

Chapter 2
We will say she’s very promiscuous. “Girl, you all remember Courtney, the tall, brown-skinned boy who plays basketball for our school? Bingo, he and Tyler, and Suave a.k.a Trey are tagging along with us. They've been blowing up my phone all day, thinking I'm playing games. Now, Suave keeps checking for you, Lindsay," Diana says with much emphasis.
"Me for what?" Lindsay is serious and nervous because she doesn't have the slightest clue what Trey aka Suave wants with her. "Why is he so anxious to see me? I've never even spoken to him. He wasn't in any of my classes. He must've bumped his head or something. I don't know him."
"See Shaniqua, here it is. Lindsay has the hottest boy in the school checking for her, and she doesn't even have a clue. Girl, get with the program. You are so out of the loop. He's hot like gasoline being poured on a forest fire. Girl, please work with me. And Tyler is with you, Shaniqua. Tyler was a jock, a big-time quarterback for the high school. Rumors are all the D1 schools want him for leading Southeast High School to the third championship."
"Oh, he's cute, but I don't know. I just thought it was a girl's night out."
"It is, but you two old ladies need to loosen up, please. Plus, they're paying for us. It's Sauvé’s treat."
"His treat? That's $60. Where does he work?" Lindsay asks, still concerned with these boys' intentions.
"Don't know, don't care tonight. I get to see my baby for free, and I can see if Courtney is packing."
"Oh, gross. Way too much info," Lindsay says, and Shaniqua just stands there with her mouth wide open.
"You are so ratchet." They all laugh and go back inside to get dressed.
Southeast Valley High School was the school that the girls attended. So did Courtney, Tyler, and Tre aka Suave. While Courtney was a ball player and although he wasn't D1 material, he had the potential to be someone on the ball court. Suave was in the streets heavy, but somehow, he managed to walk across the stage and get his diploma. But he was known by everyone to come from a family of pimps and hustlers. He would often hang out at Club Divas on Newbern Avenue in Raleigh, and his uncle Cisco had a pool hall on the boulevard. He didn’t have any plans to go to college; he was too busy chasing panties and paper.
"What's good, fool?" he says, giving a handshake to his homeboys Courtney and Tyler.
"Shoot, you know, ready to mingle," Courtney says, brushing his waves and smiling from ear to ear, shaking hands with Tyler.
All the young men were dressed up. Courtney was in Polo from head to toe, from his shirt with the big horse to his chinos and Polo boots with the buckles. Tyler was wearing True Religions and a pair of forces, while Suave was wearing APC jeans and a white shirt by Giorgio Armani, with his platinum chain and Virgin Mary piece hanging, and his 2-carat diamond earrings in both his ears. And, on his feet, he had on a pair of Jordan Fives.
"Yō, y'all ready to go all the way, because it's going down tonight."
"Here, pop one of these," Suave pulls out some pills inside of a Mentos container and passes it around.
"What's this, candy? Mints?"
"Yeah, candy, now take one” Suave said. Courtney nervously takes a pill, not wanting to seem lame or disappoint Suave, who is so cool. he puts it in his mouth and swallows it dry before passing the rest to Tyler. "No man, I'm good. Those look like X pills. I'm straight. My brothers told me that stuff has all kinds of drugs in it, like heroin and cocaine. Nah, that isn’t for me. I'm headed to the pros," he says, clapping his hands and holding his head up, smiling, and confident. "That's what's up. I hear you, boy, and you better hold a brother down with some tickets when you play for the Carolina Panthers," Suave says as they both bump fists.
Courtney feels embarrassed but tries to play it off. He's never taken drugs before tonight and just found out that he took a pill with different substances. He’s feeling low. Suave lights up some loud (weed), takes a few pulls, and both Courtney and Tyler pass on smoking. After listening to Suave talk with some chick on the phone, they ride out to meet the girls.
When they pull up to the pavilion, it's packed in the parking lot. It's like a car show with pimped-out Dunks, Chevys, and Cadillacs, but Suave is crushing the game. He pulls up in a silver-waxed 2002 Bentley Continental GT on 28-inch rims. It's an old model, but he's only 19 years old and doesn't have a job. All the girls are in awe, and he calls out to some from the driver's side window, "Yeah, baby, what's shaking? Oh yeah, what's good?" He's feeling himself big-time and finally after circling the parking lot parks and finds the girls, when they link up all the girls are flawless, and everyone greets one another.
Suave approaches Lindsay like he’s God's gift to women. "What’s good, boo?" he says, grabbing onto her. But before she can answer, Lindsay shuts him down. "Stop, please don’t touch me," she says firmly. Suave sees how serious she is and falls back. Lindsay can't stand anyone touching her, let alone someone she doesn't know, and she can also smell the smoke and cigarettes on him. "Yuck."
Suave plays it off and compliments Diana on her car. "Man, I’m thirsty," Courtney says as the ecstasy pill starts to take effect. Now he's feeling groovy. Cars in the parking lot are blasting music, and the guys escort the ladies toward the entrance. Suave stays close to Lindsay like he's claiming her, and everyone gives him head nods and attention. Because If they're an item, Lindsay is a catch, but if you pay very close attention, Lindsay isn't even thinking about Suave or his sorry advances.
"The line is back here. Where are we going, cutting all these people?" Shaniqua asks with concern.
"Chill, little mama. I got this. Trust me," Suave says, going to the front of the line. "Yō, hold up! Oh, what’s good Suave What's Poppin', bro? You tell your uncle Cisco what I said?" the big black security guard asks Suave after shaking his hand and hugging him. Suave and the security guard converse first, and then Suave shows off by pulling out a wad of money and slowly peeling off six $100 bills. Still holding up the line, he hands them to the security guard, who then ushers everyone into the building.
Suave tries to put his arm around Lindsay, but she brushes him off. He looks around, thrown into a state of self-consciousness. Little does anyone know, the security guard is in debt to Sauvé’s uncle, so he’s not even charging them to get in, and its half-price for everyone with Suave. The rest of the money Suave will get back later, but he feels the need to be seen and show off.
As soon as they get into the party, the music artist Future is performing his hit song "Hey There, Hey There." The ladies are going crazy, screaming his name, followed by the song. "My fingers, they are itching for the paper."
“Wow, that was impressive,” Diana says while taking a few more pulls of the marijuana joint that Suave passed her. Lindsay and Shanique refuse to smoke! period. Courtney is smiling and waving at everyone and rubbing on himself while leaning on Sauvé’s Bentley. "Man, this car is so hot, man," he says. Now he's walking around the car and rubbing on it. Tyler sees he’s making a fool of himself, and grabs hold of him. "Wow, player, get a hold of yourself man, you're tripping the ladies out," he whispers, smiling to everyone. Suave, on the other hand, is bent over laughing. He knows that Courtney is on ecstasy and he’s high as a kite right now, and he’s laughing at him. Shaniqua is concerned for Courtney. She’s never seen him act like this. Courtney tries to hug Tyler. "I love you, man, seriously, I love all, of you guys. I love all human beings." "Oh, that stuff is really kicking in now. That's a triple stack," Suave says, clapping his hands together and laughing. "Shaniqua, come on, I'm ready to go," Lindsay says. She looks around the parking lot. Most people are headed to the waffle house or any after-party spots to continue to party, but Lindsay refuses to be a part of the club scene.
A car pulls up, and Suave starts talking loud to the female driving the car. "Yeah, baby, you know me, Mackin', and keeping it 100 out here. So, what's good? Why haven't I heard from you?" Suave leans in the...
