The Author: Raoul Eshelman is an American who was born in Munich in 1956. After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in Political Science and German in 1978, he continued his graduate education in Slavics at the University of Constance, where he received his M.A. in 1984 and Ph.D. in 1988. From 1989-1996 he was an assistant professor of Slavic literature at Hamburg University. As of now he has come full circle and is a Privatdozent at the University of Munich.
