Year Books are a new publication series published by tekom Europe.
On the first pages of this publication, we inform you about recent developments in tekom Europe and about country organizations.
The main part of this year book is reserved for articles on current trends in technical communication:
– Jonatan Lundin provides insights in his research and sheds light on the question: Why do users often not understand manuals?
– Yi Hong introduces the methodology and process of Smart-Info, used at Huawei.

– Michael Fritz investigates the scope of intelligent information and elaborates on a suitable approach for companies and technical communicators.
– Martin Schober opens our eyes and minds to augmented reality principles and application in technical communication.

Yi Hong is the Chief Information Architect (CIA) at Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT). As an STC member, Yi Hong has extensive experience in fields such as content strategy, information architecture, information experience, XML technology, structured writing, and single sourcing. Yi Hong has pioneered SMART-INFO, which is the methodology for requirements analysis, architecture design, and model definition in the information development field.

Priscill Orue, MSc in Software Engineering and B.A. in English, is a Technical Writer working for Unit4 R&D in Spain. She creates dialogues for Unit4’s enterprise digital assistant, Wanda, and is responsible for the implementation guide for all associated agents.

Ekatarina Mitova graduated first from the Spanish Language School in Sofia, and then in Mathematics and Informatics at the Sofia University. Since then, she has been a developer, a user assistance developer and an entrepreneur. Currently, she combines all of her passions by working for SAP: writing and working on interesting and innovative ideas.

Jonatan Lundin is employed as an information architect at Excosoft, with more than 20 years of experience in the technical communication industry. He is a researcher at Mälardalen University in Sweden, studying search and reading behavior and how to design information for the searching user.

She graduated from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in 2012, with a B.A. degree in English and American Studies. She then took her M.A. degree in Linguistics at the same university. During her university years, she worked parttime as a translator at several international film festivals. After her graduation, she moved to Luxembourg for a traineeship in Translation at the European Parliament. When she got back to Bulgaria, she did written translations for a medical company before joining SAP last year as a User Assistance Developer.

Since 1998, Professor of Information and Media Technology in the subject areas of communication and media management at the University of Karlsruhe – Technology and Economics.

She holds a master’s degree in Communication and Media Management. She is a technical writer at Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, and provides technical information for customers in the automotive or technical industry. In addition to her job, she is active at tekom on the Education and Training Committee and the tekom advisory board.

He studied Political Science and English Language and Literature at the University of Mannheim, earning a degree as a Business Economist (VWA) with focus on marketing. After being active as a manager of an educational institution and experience in various associations, CEO of tekom Deutschland since 1996. Since 2001, also CEO of tcworld GmbH, and since 2013, also CEO of the European Association for Technical Communication – tekom Europe e.V.
