Writing in the Social Sciences: A Guide for Term Papers and Book Reviews is a practical, step-by-step guide to researching and writing argumentative term papers and book reviews. Accessible to both university and college students, the text walks them through creating an aim sentence, organizing arguments or headings and themes to demonstrate the aim, researching effectively, and documenting sources properly. Students will learn how using an outline will help them to refine their ideas, record their research, and write their term paper or book review. The steps are supported by examples, tables, figures, tips, and reminders.

Jake Muller is Professor Emeritus at Northwest Community College, where he taught introductory sociology courses and social work courses for over thirty years. He has edited two books, Community Organization and the Canadian State and Education for Work: Education as Work (both with Garamond Press), and has published a number of articles in textbooks and in The Community Development Journal, published by Oxford University Press.
