This book presents the use of ABAQUS software in a simplified manner, for use in welding-related issues. Increasing human needs leads to the creation of complicated scientific problems. In the majority of these problems, it is necessary to join different parts and geometries together. Classical methods such as elasticity theory of stress distribution and governing equations of temperature distribution are not appropriate for solving these complicated problems. To overcome these challenges, finite element methods are proposed in order to solve different processes using differential equation. ABAQUS is a user-friendly commercial finite element software for modeling different processes in mechanical, civil, aerospace and other engineering fields. This book contains unified and detailed tutorials for professionals and students who are interested in simulating different welding processes using the ABAQUS finite element software.

Dr. Bahman Meyghani is a Lead Mechanical Engineer at BKL Engineering, the Netherlands. He has multiple years of experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer. Dr. Meyghani earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia and he has completed a 2-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the School of Material Science and Engineering, Shandong University of China. During the past 10 years, he has been working in multidisciplinary companies and he has conducted numerous design development and numerical modeling.

In the meantime, Dr. Meyghani is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the UCSI University. He has also published several scientific papers and books in the area of 3D designing and FEMs.

Mokhtar Awang is Professional Engineer and Associate Professor at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Perak, Malaysia. He is also Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, UK (IMarEST). He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit Mercy, MI, USA, and both master and doctorate degrees from West Virginia University, WV, USA. He had 6 years of experience in industry and over 17 years of academic experience in the field of finite element modeling and friction stir welding. He is a co-author of a book and editor of 6 books related to finite element modelling and material engineering. He has also published more than seventy peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. ?
