Dr. Surya Santoso (Austin, TX) is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas. He earned MSE and PhD degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in electrical engineering. Dr. Santoso's research interests are in electric power quality and wind power systems. His most significant contributions are in pioneering and advancing the engineering science of root-cause analysis of electric power quality disturbance phenomena, education of electric power quality, and in the time-domain modeling and simulation of electromagnetic transients and wind power systems for integration studies. While working in the industry, he was a principal investigator for over twenty industrial and utility studies in power quality and wind power integration. His research in academia has been supported by EPRO, TVA, ONR, NSF, NREL, Electrotek, and Manitoba HVDC Research Center. H. Wayne Beaty (Flower Mound, TX) is editor of McGraw-Hills Standard Handbook of Electrical Engineering and Handbook of Electric Power Calculations, co-editor of Electric Motor Handbook, editor of Alexander Publications An Introduction to Electric Power Distribution. He is the former managing editor of Electric Light and Power and Power Delivery Product News. Beaty is a Senior Member of IEEE.
