Ph.D. thesis "Improvement of methodology for economic assessment of development of energy systems" defended in 1990. Dr. Habil. thesis State policy of energy conservation prepared at Lithuanian Energy Institute, defended at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 2000. V. Klevas has over 40 years of experience in studies related to energy economics, improvement of energy efficiency, development of regional energy, and elaboration of concepts of renewable energy policy. The main area of the research is sustainable development of energy. Results of the research were presented in about 100 research papers and two monographs. Klevas' experience is manifested through participation as a manager and expert in more than 40 projects on various issues of energy reforms, including about 20 international. The results of scientific investigations were presented in international conferences. Klevas is a member of International Association of Energy Economists (IAEE) since 1992. In 2003, Klevas was invited to chair one of the EU Managenergy conference sessions. From 2010, he is a member of the programme committee of International Academy, Research, and Industry Association (IARIA).
