Recognizing that spirituality and religion are protective factors for individuals in recovery and can inspire greater levels of sobriety, Addictions Counseling: Body, Soul, and Spirit provides readers with a Christ-centered model for understanding, intervening, and facilitating growth with clients facing issues with addiction. The text features contributed chapters from a variety of professional addiction counselors and shares a wide array of perspectives, theories, tools, and interventions that have been proven to help individuals overcome trauma and their dependence on destructive chemicals and behaviors.

The textbook provides a clear understanding of addictions in our society and equips readers with leading addiction theories and proven interventions complemented by spiritually based case studies and scriptures that can be used as alternatives or enhancements to secular techniques. It recognizes the diversity of individuals trying to overcome addiction, as well as the various types of addiction clients may experience. The book reveals the unique opportunity professional helpers have to leverage religion and spirituality to move clients past the idea of being clean and sober and toward a greater goal of personal wholeness and a stronger relationship with God.

Featuring all the information needed to satisfy CACREP standards, Addictions Counseling provides future and current counselors, clinical supervisors, counselor educators, and pastors and ministers with the information they need to help heal the body, soul, and spirit of those facing addiction.
