Bows, Arrows, Spears, Blowpipes and Spearthrowers of Central- and Southamerica

Of course, the history of both Americas doesn't begin with the arrival of the ships of the Spanish Crown and all those who soon thereafter descended upon this suddenly nearby part of the world. Therefore, there's a timeline in the historical section. The beginning of the book is dedicated to the initial accounts and reports of individual Europeans, which should contribute to the understanding of certain ethnic groups, especially regarding their weapons.

The purpose of this book is to showcase the bows, arrows, quivers, blowpipes, spear throwers, and spears of Central and South America, and to associate them as much as possible with the various original pre-Columbian cultures and ethnicities. I try to avoid the terms "Indio" and "Indianer," but they often appear in older texts that I quote.

To navigate the complex subject more easily, after a historical overview, the respective weapons are discussed in individual groups, which are: bows, arrows, and quivers; pellet bows; spears and lances; spear throwers along with the used spears; and finally, the poisons used with bow arrows, blowgun darts, and spears.
