Measuring the impact of APN care has become more important than ever in light of the Affordable Care Act program of hospital inpatient value-based purchasing and other quality care initiatives. The third edition of this award-winning volume continues to provide current knowledge, perspectives, and research on assessing outcomes of APN care, including discussion of important considerations related to identifying outcomes in specialty areas, conducting outcomes assessments, and assessing outcomes at the DNP level through the most current published projects. Chapters describe numerous examples of practice-based outcome assessments, and provide detailed descriptions of how an assessment is conducted.
It is now completely updated and revised to include:
A new chapter on assessing outcomes at the DNP level through data gained from the most current research
An expanded literature review on outcomes measurement research
Guidelines for selecting assessment instruments
Perspectives on international initiatives in APN assessment
New chapter objectives and critical discussion questions with updated web links
The text is written by a highly esteemed scholar who was recently the recipient of the first American Association of Critical Care Nursing Impact Research Grant and the AACN's 2010 Flame of Excellence Award for sustained regional and national contributions to acute and critical care nursing.
