Make Radical Self-Care Part of Your Daily Routine

Once you’ve committed to doing Radical Self-Care you can create the infrastructure so it happens regularly. Here are some tips for doing that:

● Expand on existing self-care practices by adding one or two practices to your day. For instance, add music, a friend, a treat, an app, to what you are already doing for self-care.
● Do things because they feel good. If you feel you “should” do a self-care practice then it won’t feed you because you will get an energetic “no” when you do it.
● Bookend your day with self-care practices that feed your soul so that you open and close your day by doing things that create a rhythm to your day. Your morning self-care routine can help prepare you for your day, such as meditation, yoga, movement or exercise, reading, walking the dog, etc. Evening self-care routines can aid in winding down and preparing for sleep, such as bathing, meditating, listening to music, praying, lighting candles, having tea, etc.
● Allow for flexibility in your self-care routines. Whenever possible, do them. When it’s not possible, or out of your control, try to do just one self-care element, or don’t sweat it.
● Try to limit your consumption of sugar, controlled substances, and screen time to other times, so that self-care time is purely focused on nurturing your wholeness and being present with yourself.
● Radical Self-Care is about nurturing and supporting yourself to function at your best. It’s not a contest. It’s not about what you “should” do.
● Set up a self-care station in your home with items that will remind you of your intention to self-nurture. For instance, have a cozy blanket, cushions, chocolate, candles, yoga mat, music speaker, book, knitting, art supplies, or other items there to make your self-care station comfortable and inviting.

Start a self-care practice that suits you and your schedule, and you will benefit from reflection and soul nourishment. When you are taking care of yourself, you are better able to focus on your healing journey. Make it a priority to take care of yourself, and you will be better able to learn the Sacred Self-Healing Method and achieve your healing goals.

Understanding Trauma

Before you begin learning the Sacred Self-Healing Method I want to cover some information about trauma.

Every human being has negative experiences in their life, and part of the Sacred Self-Healing Method is naming all of your life experiences, the positive and the negative ones, so that you can acknowledge and heal them.

You likely harbor trauma in your body and mind; most humans do. Difficult feelings may surface reflecting trauma from your life at any time. The following introduction to trauma is provided to help you understand what trauma is and how it can be healed.

What is Trauma?

Trauma can be classified into four main types: physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.

Trauma can be caused by events in a past life, by events that happened when you were a child before you were cognizant, or at any point during your life. You may experience a triggering event that causes a traumatic memory to surface, even if you don’t know where it came from or what to do with it. You may also experience what is sometimes referred to as “small ‘t’ trauma”, which occurs when a number of smaller traumatic events in your life add up to a larger pattern of trauma.

You may also experience the daily cumulative trauma of living in our fast-paced, media-driven world, where troubling images are presented to you without context and lodge in your subconscious.

Collective or generational trauma is trauma that is held by the family, community, or society at a cellular or energetic level from experiences your ancestors could not control, like famine, war, forced migration, disenfranchisement, and genocide....
