New perspectives help us grow with those around us, towards others, and in so many intersecting worlds that we would not have otherwise known about. Music, movement, and sight. 'Something in That Space' is about all of that - comprised of 5 song collections: Something in that Space, Cosmic Dance, Interplay, Gazing at the Sky and If it Should Rain - lyrics with art that hopefully inspire engagement in this life that we share. All net proceeds are directed to the Fred T. Korematsu Institute. Founded by Dr. Karen Korematsu, the Institute, named for her father as the appellant in Korematsu v. U.S., the U.S. Supreme Court case contesting imprisoning those of Japanese descent during WWII without due process on constitutional grounds, promotes civic participation and education that advances racial equity, social justice and human rights for all. By its initiatives and promotion of the Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution on January 30 in perpetuity and recognized in a number of states, not only does it seek to educate more people about the incarceration of over 125,000 people of Japanese ancestry, two-thirds American citizens, but also to connect this history to current issues of our Constitution and tell the interconnected stories of our other communities. New perspectives help us grow with those around us, towards others, and in so many intersecting worlds that we would not have otherwise known about. Music, movement, sight ... there are so many avenues that we can either seek out, bump up against or happen to have hit us ... Then, when we look into space, we at times gaze at the sky ... what we can see, what we can't, and what we just might not yet be able to. The horizon is vast, but there are also things beyond it .... And if it should rain, do we go inside? Stay outside to enjoy it? Gray sky can have a calming effect ... or not ... This book is about all of that - comprised of 5 song collections: Something in that Space, Cosmic Dance, Interplay, Gazing at the Sky and If it Should Rain lyrics with art that hopefully inspire engagement in this life that we share.
