Inner Child and Its healing

The scars of the inner child typically originate in childhood, stemming from traumatic or painful experiences, whether physical, emotional, or psychological. These wounds may manifest in various ways, such as diminished self-esteem, anxiety, insecurity, relationship challenges, bursts of anger, or an inability to express emotions appropriately. Often deeply embedded in the subconscious, these wounds can silently influence our lives, persisting without conscious awareness.

Healing the inner child stands as a crucial step toward transforming one's life and relationships.

What's frequently overlooked is the potential devastation a wounded inner child can inflict on our lives, leaving us feeling vulnerable and insecure in the world.

Many people harbor wounded inner children without conscious recognition, as these wounds remain concealed in the depths of the subconscious.

a) What is the inner child?

b) Where are the wounds of the inner child?

c) How can you heal your inner child or help him/her to heal

a)What is the Inner child?

The term "inner child" was initially coined by psychologist Carl Jung and has since gained widespread recognition in the fields of psychology and psychotherapy.

In psychological terms, the inner child is regarded as a facet of our subconscious mind. However, delving into a comprehensive understanding and healing of the inner child requires a deeper exploration that incorporates the spiritual dimension.

From a spiritual standpoint, the inner child symbolizes a current of energy within the subconscious, endowed with its own energy dynamics. This presence extends beyond the mind and resonates in our lower three chakras, particularly the first chakra—the root chakra (colored red)—which signifies fundamental trust.

The inner child yearns to experience a sense of protection and security, emphasizing its need for a safe haven.

The 7 main chakras and their functions/meaning

Chrown chakra (7. chakra – purple, violet)

Above the crown (rotating to the right)

Functions/purposes: Access to God consciousness/Spirituality/Awareness

Third eye chakra (6. chakra – dark blue)

Location: Point between the eyes; third eye (rotating to the left)

Functions/purposes: Intuition, extrasensory perception, awareness

Throat chakra (5. chakra – light blue)

Location: Throat (bipolar)

Functions/purposes: Expression, recognizing and expressing one's own truth

Heart chakra (4. chakra - green)

Location: Between the chest (rotating to the right)

Functions/purposes: Unconditional love, compassion

Solar plexus chakra (3. chakra - yellow)

Location: approximately 1 hand's breadth above the navel (rotating to the left)

Functions/purposes: Gut feelings, willpower, processing emotions, personality

Sacral chakra (2. chakra - orange)

Location: Navel (bipolar)

Functions/purposes: All relationships, sexuality, creativity

Root chakra (1. chakra - red)

Location: Coccyx (bipolar)

Functions/purposes: Inner child, survival, basic trust, stability/security

The 1st chakra is very important for our inner child, as it is the energetic basis of the whole system.

This is our first connection to God (the universe, the all-one-ness). The 1st chakra is also the basis for everything in our lives and, from a spiritual point of view, it is the (dwelling) place of our inner child.

Key characters of the 1st chakra are:

Safety. The first chakra, also known as the root chakra, is closely linked to the feeling of security. It plays an essential role in making us feel safe in the world. This chakra is primarily concerned with our physical survival. It is especially important for us as mammals, as we rely on a supportive community to survive. A young mammal would not be able to survive without the care and nourishment from its mother or 'tribe'. We are dependent on having a support system around us.

The root chakra is also responsible for our basic programming, that is, everything we have been conditioned and imprinted with. It also influences our beliefs about ourselves. The imprinting phase for this programming extends from birth (and even from the time in the womb) to around five years of age.

An illustration of this concept is evident in how one perceives and interprets love, often shaped by personal experiences. The associations and meanings attached to love are influenced by the manner in which caregivers, such as parents, demonstrated affection and care during formative years.

Positive experiences, characterized by abundant love, support, and constant presence, may lead to an association of love with feelings of security and assurance.

Conversely, negative experiences, such as being frequently left alone or perceiving others as more significant, particularly from a motherly figure who energetically symbolizes one's initial experience of love, can lead to an association of love with absence. In such cases, the inner child may link love to a sense of insignificance and the absence of the desired emotional connection. Until the first chakra or inner child undergoes healing, there is a likelihood of repeating these patterns in romantic relationships. Once healing occurs, these old patterns lose their resonance, paving the way for a transformative shift in one's experiences of love and connection.

Not only your own imprints, conditioning and beliefs are stored in the 1st chakra, but also those of your ancestors.

From a physical point of view, the 1st chakra is responsible for your legs and feet and for your bones (structure). This chakra is responsible for order and structure. And it is responsible for your immune system.

The root chakra is responsible for how a child sees and perceives the world around them. If the child has been severely injured or traumatized, this can affect the child's natural development and awareness. It can be more difficult for the child to develop further and this development can be severely delayed.

The 1st chakra is very body-oriented. 1st chakra + connection of the 5 senses. That's why children want to try everything, taste everything, touch everything, put everything in their mouths. Children are generally very well connected to the 1st chakra.

Understanding that the Inner Child can be either nurtured or hindered in its development is crucial. The Root Chakra, oriented outwardly, places you in the awareness of the first chakra from the moment of birth. You absorb and perceive everything in your surroundings, utilizing your five senses to discern whether harmony or disharmony prevails within your family.

Instances of disharmony, such as various forms of abuse (sexual, emotional, etc.) within the family, can disrupt the equilibrium of the first chakra.

The destabilization of the first chakra isn't always tied to severe traumas; it can occur more easily, especially for sensitive individuals or empaths. In such cases, even parental arguments and disharmony, unrelated to you directly, can set it off course. Additionally, a lack of attention can also disturb the inner child's balance. As evident, various triggers can destabilize the Inner Child.

Advancement becomes challenging because, as previously mentioned, the first chakra serves as the foundation for the development and opening of the other chakras.

Absolutely, you grasp the significance of healing the inner child! It yearns to be acknowledged, experienced, accepted, loved, integrated, and healed.

The spiritual definition of the inner child is: it is the part of you that is innocent and full of joy and that loves to play - just like a child.

b)Tender Echoes: Locating and Healing the Wounds of the Inner Child?

How do I know if my inner child is wounded/injured?

There are a few questions you can ask yourself to find out the wounds of your inner child.

Unraveling the Past: Exploring the Impact of Childhood Traumas?

There might have been some form of disharmony within your family – conflicts between your parents, a lack of attention, feelings of abandonment, childhood insecurities, a deficit in love (specifically related to the first chakra rather than the heart chakra), perhaps inadequate care, and a sense of not fitting in despite your siblings and parents having strong relationships.

All these factors could have resulted in trauma for both you and your inner child.

In essence, without any inner healing efforts, it's reasonable to assume that your inner child may be wounded.

If you've already engaged in inner healing work, there's a chance that your inner child has undergone healing.

Nevertheless, if you've experienced traumatic events during childhood and haven't yet undertaken any self-healing work, it's highly likely that your inner child remains wounded.
