Harry L. Watson is the Atlanta Distinguished Professor of Southern Cultures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marcie Cohen Ferris is professor of American studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a former president of the Southern Foodways Alliance.
