This paper was written in January, 2014, while the author was still an undergraduate student at Dresden University of Technology. It focuses on Native Americans within the United States and their struggle to achieve tribal sovereignty and self-determination. The author examines the special relationship between indigenous tribes and the federal government and how it has changed throughout the years.
