The human race and the individuals composing it continue to suffer the tragic effects of being unaware of their true Identity. This state has led to a false experience of themselves and of life, rendering them incapable of fulfilling their true purpose in the cosmic design. This volume of talks, given between 2002 and 2007, discusses themes pertinent to the reawakening of the consciousness to both true identity and purpose. The talks were given to the same small group of spiritual colleagues as were present for the talks contained in Volume I. These individuals therefore played an essential role in the appearance of both volumes. Members of a transcript mailing list also played their parts, and some of these latterly joined the original group for talks shared by telephone conference call. Acknowledgments would not be complete without reference to Lloyd Arthur Meeker (Uranda) and Martin Exeter, whose lives and teaching embodied the true Tone of Life in a magnificent way.

The chapters are extemporaneous talks, and as such do not have the easy reading style of written prose. The content also assumes that the reader has previously undertaken considerable spiritual work, so there are few attempts at the correction, inspiration or persuasion often presented in spiritual literature. A few words are used in specialized ways, and these are referenced in the small glossary. As in Volume I, capital letters are used, not always grammatically consistent but, rather, for nuanced effect in their use and context. * * *It is not anticipated that this book will receive a large distribution. Its contribution to the cycle of restoration was made primarily through the influence of spiritual radiation when the talks were given. This is true of each of our contributions in living. They are made radiantly, moment by moment, in the current of the spirit expressed.

CHAPTER 1

The Romance of a Lifetime

Everyone who has ever lived has longed for the greatest experience of life possible. We are no exception to that. It has been that underlying urge that has brought us to where we are today. Our paths have been uniquely ours, but we find ourselves together now.

I was watching a television program the other day, in which there was the description of how a snowflake forms. As we know, in theory, there are no two identical snowflakes. This is because each of them has had a unique history. Apparently, each starts out as a six-pointed molecule, and then its journey through bands of moisture, heat and cold (melting and freezing), causes unique patterns to be created. No two have been found alike. It is an interesting thing about Being: there are no two identical particles anywhere. If atoms could be examined this closely it would be found that they are composed of unique energy, determined by the atom’s location in Being.

We find ourselves, as individuals, unique in Being. And the question might arise as to how fully we are revealing the glory of Being through the point that is ours to steward. That is our urge—to reveal something glorious. One element of glory can be described by the word romance. Human beings love the experience of romance! It is one of the essences of Being. Here is part of a dictionary definition: “Adventures of a chivalrous nature; a quality suggestive of adventure and heroic, idealized exploits. Love.” Now those essences seem desirable in anybody’s life. I am sure we look to have such experiences. In fact, our lives are given to the manifestation of true romance.

To begin with, we aspire to give expression to the finest qualities of character of which we can conceive. Perhaps I don’t have to rehearse them—but nobility, honor, compassion, fairness, are some examples. I suppose we can summarize this quality of character with the word divine. This is the character we seek to embody. And this character, who we are, is on a great journey in this world to achieve a great purpose. We are part of a great cause—the greatest conceivable cause! What would that be? It is, perhaps initially, to transform the human experience of life on this planet. We do this through transforming our own experience of life from mediocrity to something glorious, moment by moment. We know that in doing this we are part of a larger cause, which is to banish from the experience of human beings and the world all suffering—at the spiritual, emotional, mental level, and ultimately at the physical level.

Beyond this, however, is an even larger purpose, which is to consciously reintegrate the life experience of this planet into the cosmic whole and beyond—since what we perceive as the cosmos is undoubtedly a mere fraction of Being. And this purpose in which we are engaged is not just something for now. It is contributing to the future eternity of Being. So this is the adventure and purpose of our lives.

Let’s bring this larger perspective down to our more immediate experience, (although, in fact, everything I’ve been speaking about is brought to focus in every moment that we live). We can look a little more closely, perhaps, at the details associated with the word romance—such as love. The romance of life is certainly a love story. One aspect of our experience of love relates to members of the opposite sex. In the current state of human consciousness, if you utter the word romance it usually means something like candlelight, wine and chocolates—with hopefully a bit of sexual activity thrown in! But the potentiality of the experience of romance between the Beloveds, male and female, is much vaster than that. For any man and woman who know each other over a period of time, the romance explores all aspects of living. It involves being together through difficult circumstances and the deepening appreciation and love for each other in dealing with challenging situations.

There is also the romance of love between members of the same sex. By that I refer to the love which can be known where there is the expression of true character through another of the same sex. There is a sense of oneness in that character. Love is oneness. The true romance of love begins to include everything, actually, because we are aware that everything is a part of Being and is seeking to play its part in this great purpose, which is ours and theirs. By the criteria I have described, we can see that true romance is only possible to those emerging into true Identity and who are therefore consciously participating in the one true purpose. Others may have flashes and glimpses of this seemingly elusive experience of romance, which comes to them but fleetingly. However, in true Identity the romance of life is always with us.

In the human world, the experience of romance can bring about lightheadedness, dizziness, and often total impracticality. People tend to leave their senses. But the true romantic spirit is supremely practical. We can see examples of this everywhere actually, but let’s look at sexuality. The experience of sexuality is not just a physical matter. There is a sense of love; there is magic; there is adventure inherent in the spirit of it; and, voila!—procreation! There is a link here between the romantic spirit and practical mechanics!

We could look at another example—earning a living. Earning a living can be full of the romantic spirit. There is the sense of adventure, if you bring it. There is a sense of initiative, contribution, love of giving, of pleasing others. That is the romantic spirit! And the mechanical result is that you can eat and have shelter! One last example—raising a child. Children would die very quickly unless they were surrounded by the spirit of Life through parents, adults. There is a great focus of the romantic spirit through parents in raising a child, as they seek to provide all that is necessary to let that child grow safely into their own experience of greatness, to be as glorious as they can be in life’s journey.

The romantic spirit can be recognized in every so-called mechanical process. The romantic spirit emerges continuously through the design that it created in the human form; for example, through the senses. The design is such that romance in this larger sense can be experienced by touch, taste, sight, hearing and smell. And beyond those organs, there are the invisible organs of perception in spirit, heart and mind. These organs exist so that we may experience the perpetual romance of life—the romance of ourselves, actually—and of everything else, because ultimately Life is one spirit, emerging through all form.

Life originates in an undimensional “place” and projects itself into the dimensions of time and space. We are an expression of Life and we project ourselves into the dimensions of time and space from this place of essences. It is an interesting thing that when we project ourselves, spirit, into time and space, the forms in time and space illuminate us. They illuminate a place and a presence that would be in the dark, as it were, unless they reflected back to us, embodied, the currents of these essences. Usually it is thought by human beings, who are identified with the outer form, that spirit illuminates the forms. And we appreciate that view, but I am pointing here to something else. We are emerging from an undimensional place, and the forms we see in physical matter are actually illuminating the invisible current that is being radiated. Thus, when we look out into the dimensions of time and space, we see forms reflecting back to us what is inherent in the radiation being projected. For example, we see the Sun—a glorious form, which is so bright we cannot even look at it! That is an aspect of the radiation which is shining forth. The stars, countless myriad of them, illuminate something of the vastness of ourselves—the different mansions of our Being. When we look at a towering mountain, it speaks to us of our own spirit, as does a flower with its delicate, exquisite revelation. The world illuminates our spirit. On a lighter note, that is also why human beings can imitate anything they see external to themselves, because they have an aspect of that spirit within themselves.

Some may say, “Well, if this is true, why are there deserts, polar wastes, being reflected back, if all there is is this glorious revelation of Self?” It is simply because there has been a dissipation of the finest qualities of substance in time and space, specifically in the human form. This has affected, first of all, the radiation into time and space through human beings, since the radiation has little fine substance through which to manifest, and therefore many of the distortions experienced as being in time and space actually originate within the human instrument itself. Also, thinking of these larger areas, of what we might consider unbeautiful manifestations—such as deserts and polar wastes and the suffering in nature—the whole body of mankind is one large instrument. So if there is a shortage of pneumaplasm, spiritual substance, in that instrument, then this larger void has effects beyond. The radiation is not reaching the creative field clearly, and therefore what is reflected back illuminates the voids present within the human consciousness. Part of our greater purpose is to remedy this situation. We can greatly enhance the quality and experience of our own lives, but obviously our personal lives are part of a bigger picture in which we are working—namely, the body of mankind.

It is crucial that we...
