Summarises the numerous components of soil health management including cutting-edge technologies such as genome editing, nanotechnology, and rhizospheric engineering, together with conventional techniques for preserving soil nutrients.
A major challenge for agriculture and future crop production is the deterioration in soil health and fertility. We have large areas of barren land across the globe with degraded soil which can only be made fertile by applying proper nutrition and soil health management practices. It is crucial to protect soil health in order to feed the world's ever-growing population. Healthy soil is a dynamic ecosystem containing microbes that aid in the breakdown of organic materials and minerals, increasing the availability of plant nutrients (nutrient recycling) and enhancing soil quality and crop output. Healthy soil also helps mitigate the impact of climate change by maintaining nutrients and sequestering atmospheric carbon. This book summarizes the numerous components of soil health management including cutting-edge technologies such as genome editing and rhizospheric engineering, together with conventional techniques for preserving soil nutrients.

Naveen Chandra Joshi (Edited By) Dr Naveen Joshi iworks in plant nutrient signalling, plant stress biology, and plant genetic engineering. Dr. Joshi is an experienced researcher and has worked in various world-renowned institutions, including CEA-LPCV, France, Rutgers University, USA, and Agricultural Research Organisation, Israel. He has published 20 peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals. He has been awarded several fellowships, including INRA, France, and ARO postdoctoral fellowships in 2011 and 2016. Dr. Joshi received his MSc in Biochemistry from G.B. Pant University in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Life Sciences from Prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2011 New Delhi. Prashant Kumar Singh (Edited By) Dr Prashant Kumar Singh is currently working at the Department of Biotechnology, Mizoram University (A Central University), Pachhunga University College Campus, Aizawl, Mizoram. He completed his PhD degree from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. In his 15 years of research, he has published more than 100 articles and book chapters and four books. Thomas Leustek (Edited By) Prof. Dr. Thomas Leustek currently serves as the Dean of Academic Programs at the Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and a Professor in the Department of Plant Biology. He earned his Ph.D. from Rutgers University-Newark and carried out postdoctoral studies as a fellow at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology. Dr. Leustek was initially appointed Assistant Professor at Rutgers University in the Center for Agriculture Biotechnology and continued his research in the Plant Biology department. He has published 97 peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals. His research has focused on plant and microbial metabolism, intermediary metabolism, sulphur metabolism, mineral nutrition, nutrient sensing, and metabolic engineering. He has used post-genomic tools, primarily with the Arabidopsis thaliana model, to understand how plants coordinate metabolism during growth and development and how plants sense and respond to nutrient levels in their environment. He has served as a reviewer for 63 journals and agencies. Since 2008, he has served on the Journal of Biological Chemistry editorial board.
