Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish: Feed Regulation, Metabolism and Digestion is a solid reference on the most recent advances and fundamental subjects in nutrient metabolism, intestinal transport and physiology of taste in fish. The book covers the known nutrient requirements and deficiency effects for different fish, along with information on the digestion and metabolism of nutrients and energy. It discusses nutrient sources and preparation of practical and research feeds and provides directions for conducting fish nutrition and feeding experiments. Other sections address current topics of interest to researchers and nutritionists in aquaculture research and the feed and allied industry.

Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish: Feed Regulation, Metabolism and Digestion is written by an international group of experts and contains fresh approaches of both classical and modern concepts of animal nutrition. All chapters clearly provide the essential literature related to the principles of fish nutrition and physiology that will be useful for academic researchers, those working professionally in aquaculture industries, and for graduate level students and researchers.

Dr. Vikas Kumar, assistant professor of fish nutrition and nutrigenomics at the University of Idaho (UofI).He has more than a decade of research in aquaculture and nutritional biochemistry, Fish Nutrition, Nutritional physiology, gut health, and Feed processing, formulation, and nutrigenomics. approach to enhance the aquaculture production. In the last 5 year, he has secured more than US$4 million projects for research from federal, state, and industrial funding agencies. He has collaborated research in several countries including Australia, Germany, China, India, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Malaysia, South Korea, Egypt, Nepal, Kenya, Brazil and Mexico. He currently serves as an editorial board member of Scientific Reports by the Nature Publishing Group, and as leading associate editor for the Animal Feed Science and Technology (Elsevier Publisher) and Journal of the World Aquaculture Society (Wiley Publisher). He has authored more than 75 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 18 book chapters and 30 magazine articles.
