Molecular and Diagnostic Procedures in Mycoplasmology

This is the second of two volumes focusing on new procedures developed between 1985-1995. Topics include: diagnostic genetic probes; immunological tools; antibiotic sensitivity testing; diagnosis of specific diseases; experimental infections; and diagnosis of mycoplasma infections of cell cultures. Other features of the text include: application of molecular probes and PCR as well as new seriological tools in the diagnosis of mycoplasma infections; the new diseases of activation of the immune system by mycoplasmas (serving as superantigens and inducers of cytokines); and the possible association of specific newly discovered mycoplasmas with AIDS.
