This book provides an overview of the recent advancements for plant scientists with a research focus on phytohormones and their responses (nature, occurrence, and functions) in plant cells.

This book focuses on the role of phytohormones in biosynthesis, plant sexual reproduction, seed germination and fruit development and ripening. It further highlights the roles of different phytohormones on signaling pathways as well as on photoperiodism/Gravitropism/Thigmotropism.

The volume also explores the role of phytohormones in gene expression and plant melatonin and serotonin and covers how plant hormones react in case of stress/defence response (metals/metalloids/pathogen).

Last but not least, this volume also discusses phytohormones in the context of new regulatory molecules such as Nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide, melatonin.

lt;p>Dr. Dharmendra K. Gupta is Director (S) and Scientist "F" in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India at New Delhi, India and already published more than 115 refereed research papers/review articles in peer reviewed journals and in books, also edited 18 books from Springer and NOVA publishers. His field of research includes abiotic stress by radionuclides/heavy metals and xenobiotics in plants; antioxidative system in plants, environmental pollution (radionuclides/heavy metals) remediation through plants (phytoremediation). According to google scholar his h-index is 37.

Prof. Francisco J. Corpas is Research Professor of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) who has more than 28 years of research experience in the metabolism of Reactive Oxygen, Nitrogen and Sulfur Species (ROS, RNS and RSS, respectively) in higher plants under physiology and environmental stress conditions. Special interests are the implications of these reactive species in fruit ripening and the nitro-oxidative metabolism of plant peroxisome. He was the Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology of Plants (2014-2018) at Research Institute named "Estación Experimental del Zaidín"-CSIC, Granada Spain. He has already published more than 224 refereed research papers/review articles in peer reviewed journals (according with Scopus database with h-index: 63) and edited seven books.
