Sunny's Blazing Battle is a true story about the global problem of climate change. It highlights to children the relationship between humans and wildlife and the dangers animals face in their own habitats. Stunning artwork captures the imagination of young readers bringing to life a very real threat to our world.
Sunny’s Blazing Battle takes you to the heat of the Australian bush where Sunny the Koala and her baby Banjo are sleeping peacefully in the tall gumtrees. When a sudden summer storm brings the flames of the bushfire close to home, brave firefighters have to battle to save them and Sunny needs all the help she can get before feeling safe once again.

Sunny's Blazing Battle is based on true events and it is this powerful message which invites children and adults alike to question the impact of climate change on our environment. With ideas and activities which reinforce the story this is a book which will inspire children to make changes to the world around them.

There is a huge growing national and international consciousness about climate change and it is important to teach children about this devastating global issue without overwhelming them or shocking them. The Wild Tribe Heroes series of books guides young readers through the issues in a gentle and friendly way together with further information to inspire children to make changes to their own and their families lives.

Ellie Jackson is a mother of four young children who has written the Wild Tribe Heroes series of books to help educate children about global environmental issues. Ellie lives by the sea in Looe, Cornwall, and wrote her first book after living on Magnetic Island in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, during which time, she and her young family saw a turtle called Duffy being released back into the ocean after a year of treatment for ingesting plastic. "My children and I were transfixed by the sight of this beautiful creature being set free, and subsequently visited a turtle hospital on the mainland to find out more. Once my children had made the link between plastics and turtles they were obsessed with clearing litter from beaches so that they could help protect turtles and other sea life." In this way, Ellie, an environmental scientist who taught geography for six years, conceived her idea to use children's books as a way of educating young people about environmental threats to our planet.
