This book focuses on summarizing the effects of greenspace exposures on human health in China. It also discusses the new methodologies assessing greenspace exposure and new methods exploring potential mechanisms underlying them. In particular, it takes into account trends in the types of studies and measurement of variables over time, as well as sources of geographical heterogeneity given uneven development across the China’s vast terrain. This book aims at providing researchers, health professionals, and policy makers a cutting-edge and comprehensive summary of researches on greenness and human health.

Dr. Guang-Hui Dong is a professor of environmental epidemiology and environmental toxicology. He has years of experience working as an environmental epidemiologist in China, and his research areas of focus include adults and child health, environmental health, exposure assessment, indoor and outdoor air pollution, greenness, and night light. Also, his research area focused on the toxicological evaluation of some components in PM2.5, such as some persistent organic pollutant (PFASs, PBDEs) in ambient air particles. So far, Dr. Dong has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles in the highly acclaimed journals, including Lancet Planetary Health, Nature Mental Health, Lancet Reginal Health, JAMA Network Open, EHP, ES&T, Thorax, Allergy, Hypertension, etc. journals as first and corresponding author. Dr. Bo-Yi Yang is an associate professor of environmental epidemiology and environmental health. His research focuses on the effects of environmental factors, especially green space and air pollution, on health of different populations, including newborns, children, adolescents, and adults. Also, he employs laboratory studies to explore potential mechanisms by which environmental factors affecting human health. Up to now, Dr. Yang has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers in the highly influential international journals, including The Lancet Planetary Health, Environmental Health Perspectives, JAMA Network Open, Environment International, Obesity Reviews, Environmental Science and Technology, and Hypertension. Dr. Yun-Jiang Yu is currently a professor and the associate director of the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China. He has been conducting research in the field of environmental health, focusing mainly on the impacts of emerging contaminants on human health, environmental exposure risk assessment and management. He is responsible for the top-level design in controlling environmental health risks of emerging contaminants for the Chinese government. He has been serving as editor-in-chief of the journal Hygiene and Environmental Health Advances and editorial member of the journals Environment International and Environmental Pollution. Up to now, Dr. Yu has published more than 12 books and 300 peer-reviewed articles in the most influential international journals including ES&T, CEJ, and JHM.
