Anne M. Hewitt, PhD, MA, is Acting Chair for the Department of Interprofessional Health Sciences and Health Administration and Professor at Seton Hall University. She also serves as Director of the Elizabeth A. Seton Institute for Community and Population Health. Dr. Hewitt's academic career began with a doctoral dissertation grant from the American Lung Association and has continued with grants from federal and state agencies, and national non-profit agencies such as RWJ Foundation. She regularly publishes in health-related peer-reviewed journals and is currently on the Journal of Health Administration Education editorial board. Dr. Hewitt also contributes book chapters on diverse topics such online learning, population health management, virtual health care, and the sociology of health. Her service activities include appointments on state nonprofit and public health advisory boards. As part of a multi-year consulting relationship with the New Jersey Department of Health, she completed a sabbatical working with the Division of Community Health and Aging. Dr. Hewitt recently served as faculty for the New Jersey Healthcare Executive Leadership Academy sponsored by the NJ Medical Society, NJ Hospital Association, and NJ Association of Health Plans. Her honors include Distinguished Service Awards from professional health executive organizations such as the American Lung Association, the Healthcare Planning and Marketing Society of NJ, and the Association of Healthcare Executives of New Jersey. Dr. Hewitt founded Mountainside Associates in 2006 and retains an active consulting role with numerous health sector clients. Julie Mascari, MHA, is a healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience, is currently the Regional President of Humana. Julie's responsibilities include managing the overall performance, development, and expansion of Humana's business presence and financial success in the Northeast Region. She has broad responsibilities in the areas of strategic growth, clinical operations, network expansion, provider engagement, risk adjustment, and product development. Prior to Humana, Julie served as the Medicare leader for EmblemHealth, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and OptumCare, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. She oversaw performance and strategic direction in a highly regulated and complex environment and continually developed and implemented population health management programs for at-risk populations. Julie obtained her Master's in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rider University and has published/contributed to numerous health management books and industry abstracts. She is an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University's master's in health administration program, Rutgers University School of Pharmacy, and for Hackensack Meridian's School of Medicine. She serves on the boards of Seton Hall University's President's and Dean's Advisory Group, and the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. She is a member of CHIEF and the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Healthcare Industry Foundation. Julie believes passionately in the providing of outstanding healthcare services in a manner that serves both the customer and the company in a sustainable, mutually beneficial environment. Stephen L. Wagner, PhD, FACHE, LFACMPE, has been active in the healthcare field for more than 45 years, focusing on the U.S. system and its ongoing transformation. He has extensive experience as textbook author, researcher, and healthcare executive with a long career in medical practice administration. Dr. Wagner served as an executive at the Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) for 20 years until retiring in 2015. He was instrumental in the creation of the Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute (formerly the Sanger Clinic) where he served as Chief non-Physician Executive. During his last five years at CHS, he was Director of Organization Development where he was responsible for their change management strategy. He is devoted to educating future leaders in the field and is the executive in residence/assistant professor for the Master of Healthcare Administration program in the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University. He has taught in the program for over 20 years including courses such as strategic planning, health management, health economics and emergency management. Dr. Wagner received his master's degree in healthcare fiscal management from the Wisconsin School of Business (Madison) and his doctorate in healthcare public policy analysis from the University of Louisville College of Business.
