Mark Mc Auley has over 15 years experience of applying computing to challenges in bioscience. Presently he is employed as a senior lecturer in chemical engineering at the University of Chester. He has published widely on the use of computer modelling in nutrition and uses computer modelling to both enhance and enrich the learning experience of the students that he teaches. He has taught computer modelling to individuals from a wide variety of levels and backgrounds from undergraduate nutrition students to PhD and medical students.  This book draws on his wealth of experience to provide an intuitive step by step guide to the modelling process. Kathleen Mooney is a Senior Lecturer of Nutrition at Edge Hill University. She has almost 10 years experience teaching nutrition to undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition students. She uses this experience to ensure that this book places an emphasis on the learner. The most difficult part of any modelling project is getting started and by selecting nutrient based biochemical systems that are familiar to all nutritionists facilitates this process. A philosophy of simplification is adopted which involves no prior programming or modelling experience.
