Juarez M. Avelar, MD, is the General Director of the Brazilian Ear Institute in São Paulo. He has also been Post-graduation Professor of Plastic Surgery at The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery since 1997 and Invited Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Medical School of the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. Dr. Avelar has twice been President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, twice President of The Alumni Association of Prof. Ivo Pitanguy and once President of the Prof. Illouz Association. He has been a member of the Board of The Brazilian Medical Association for three periods and is a Founder Member and current President of The Brazilian Association of Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells. Dr. Avelar has been an active member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery over several decades. Dr Avelar is author of 105 and counting scientific articles in International and Brazilian Journal and book chapters and 950 and counting scientific lectures at International and Brazilian Congresses.
