It is divided into two well-defined sections - the first takes each part of the eye separately and describes a systematic approach to disorders that may afflict it and the second covers topics of special interest such as tropical eye disease, occupational eye disease, paediatric opthalmology, trauma and drug-induced eye conditions. A section on eye removal is included. Each topic is subdivided into a short description, symptoms, signs, differential diagnosis and management with step-by-step therapeutic procedures and, where possible, exact drug dosages. The advice on treatment indicates what degree of therapeutic responsibility can be taken and when referral must be made. A system of colour coding recommends the level of expertise necessary to treat any given condition.
