"An extensive background to anxiety disorders in children is covered; it is rich in detail and evidence-based. Issues of epidemiology, classification and outcome predictors are addressed, along with the impact of comorbid disorders on the treatment and assessment of anxiety disorders. The authors provide a well-balanced discussion of factors related to elevated anxiety and the associated implications of these factors for treatment. This book is a great resource for the treatment of childhood anxiety disorders, with helpful, practical recommendations presented for treating children with anxiety disorders." (Child and Adolescent Mental Health, 1 September 2013)

"As a clinician, practitioner and research supervisor, this book is a valuable source of evidence-based information that can be used in both clinical and research settings. It is a comprehensive source of treatment and interventions for mental health professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists and anyone working with children and adolescents. I would highly recommend this book to those who have an interest in or work with children and adolescence." (BPS South Western Branch Review, 1 August 2013)

This authoritative handbook edited by Essau and Ollendick is
THE state-of-the-art review and summary of evidence-based
treatment and prevention approaches for various anxiety-related
disorders in children and adolescents. Important and useful feature
include the focus on the etiological and theoretical frameworks
useful for understanding these disorders, provision of treatment
goals and methods for different disorders, inclusion of very
helpful session-by-session examples of some programs, and
suggestions of exciting emerging approaches (one-session
treatments; virtual reality; computer-based treatments). The
Handbook will be an invaluable text for developmental
psychopathology and child intervention courses, and for
practitioners who want to remain abreast of current work in the
field.--John E. Lochman, PhD, ABPP; The
University of Alabama

Essau and Ollendick have successfully accomplished the
enormous task of presenting all one needs to know about anxiety
disorders in children and adolescents. Remarkably, in this
single volume -- a full and comprehensive account of cutting
edge research and clinical strategies. Kudos to
the editors, kudos to the contributors, and especially, kudos
to the children and adolescents who will ultimately benefit from
the enhanced knowledge this volume so ably disseminates to the
reader.--Wendy Silverman, Professor of
Psychology, College of Arts and Sciences and Director of Child and
Family Psychosocial Research Center at Florida State University,
Miami
