The book deals with the development of a methodology to estimate the motion field between two frames for video coding applications. This book proposes an exhaustive study of the motion estimation process in the framework of a general video coder. The conceptual explanations are discussed in a simple language and with the use of suitable figures. The book will serve as a guide for new researchers working in the field of motion estimation techniques.

Dr. Shilpa Metkar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in College of Engineering, Pune, India. She has completed her Doctorate from S.R.T. Marathwada University, Nanded, India in September 2011. Dr. Metkar is actively involved in research work in the area of Digital Signal Processing and Digital Image Processing. She has published many papers in peer-reviewed international journals and international conference proceedings.
Dr. Sanjay Talbar is serving as Professor with Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded, India. He has obtained his PhD from S.R.T. Marathwada University, Nanded, India in 2000. He has received the Young Scientist Award by URSI, Italy in 2003. He is a member of many prestigious committees in academic field of India. His research interests are Signal & Image Processing and Embedded Systems.
