A coming of age tale where love and happiness doesn't always mean the same thing. The three main characters grew up together and do their best to remain close while going through life's struggles.
The story focuses on Asya Jones, Trina Stovall and Denise Wess three friend since birth who have reach their thirties and life begin to change for them all. Asya has always been the one with the most money and two parent household so she's the unspoken leader while they make their way in life. Denise is Asya's cousin who is three months older than her and constantly fighting with Asya. Denise lost her parents when she was just a baby and feels Asya is spoiled since life has always been harder for her. Trina is Asya's mother best friend daughter. She was practically raised by Asya's parents since her own mother is disabled. Trina feels Asya can do no wrong until she meets the wrong man. The love the women share is like sisters, they argue even fight but will come to each other's defense whenever the needs calls. At least they did until their men, money and the call of having their own gets in the way. Neither woman is prepared for the future but no one can stop their destiny.

Chapter II

B… On the ride to Texas as soon as Asya fell asleep on my shoulder I found some peace. We spent the weekend together all weekend but seeing her sleep let me know our shit was cool. The whole weekend had been new to me.

Even when I was supposed to be in control Asya did as she chose. After our one misunderstanding we were on better terms, only I never got the chance to get inside Asya. I’ve never been with any female that long and not gotten what I wanted. The main reason I liked Asya was she was unlike no woman before.

When I walked in and saw Asya drowning in the tub both nights I had to let her make it. That first night when I saw Asya asleep with one of my t-shirts on and her fat ass lips on full display I was tempted as fuck. The way she was snoring and the fact that I knew she was drunk turned me off. I looked for a bit before I threw my throw over her knowing sex would be better with her awake. Had I been someone else I might’ve taken advantage of the condition Asya put herself in. I meant no harm so I locked my door and went back to my guests.

The next night after I got Asya to cum twice I should’ve taken a shower with her. It was my fault when I let her take another bath. I’d left the room to set the mood, but shit went to waste when I had to pull Asya out of the tub again. Doing what I could, too ready to go for mine, I dried Asya while trying to wake her. Asya was either knocked out or playing sleep, good than a bitch. Once I put her to bed, I locked my door and went to my den to rethink why I was wasting my fucking time. I’d lost myself in thought until Jessie called saying they’d dropped off Asya’s girls. I knew my boys had both knocked off Ebony which didn’t make me feel any better.

I fell asleep in my den while trying to figure Asya out. The next morning Asya came to me apologizing, promising to make shit up to me in front of my neighbor. Ready to end my torture I tried to go for mine but Asya never stopped stressing about getting home. My goal was to get some head or something on the flight to Texas only Asya stayed on the phone trying to calm her mama. Mrs. Jones called Asya five times before we left my house. Asya claimed to know she was in trouble while stressing out about making her birthday dinner on time.

Only after Trina told Asya to chill out had she put her head on my shoulder. Looking down at Asya sleeping reminded me of my daughter SeSe, who her mom kept with a head full of braids. When I was with SeSe, she ran me crazy too. I’ve never worked so hard to please any female other than SeSe. Taking trips to see Asya, thinking about her, wanting to know what she was up to was all new to me. Nothing in me could figure out why I was even sticking around for any of Asya’s shit.

When we landed in Dallas all I got was a short kiss before Asya and her girls jumped into a cab to get to her dinner. It fucked me up when Asya didn’t even asked me if I wanted a plate. Then again I wasn’t ready to meet her folks so I didn’t say shit before I got back on my jet and flew to Atlanta to spend time with my kids.

I called the kids while I was on my way and told them to be ready. My next call was to the nanny letting her know to be ready and to tell Nequa they’d be back in a few days. Once I picked my youngest two up we flew to visit my oldest two sons.

Branson Bernard and Bradson Charles, my oldest sons, lived in Jamaica. Their mom Kelisa was my first love. We met when I was selling CD’s from my Uncles’ shop outside the local college. My boy B Row, had a hustle going serving the local college population. I started going with him to get in on the profits and saw Kelisa for a week straight before stepping to her. Kelisa was smart; she didn’t fall for my shit either. I still made sure to speak whenever I saw her.

Finally, after a month, I wore Kelisa down and she agreed to go out. She had a nice ass, some smoky brown eyes, long thick hair and a banging body. The way she talked had me staring at her lips trying to learn her language. Kelisa was Jamaican and found everything I said funny. All I knew was I was nineteen and horny. I was still floating through life not trying to be serious about anybody. Kelisa was a hard nut to crack so I told her a few things to make her feel better about herself then got what I wanted.

Kelisa and I had fucked around for close to three months before she left college without saying shit to me. When I found out she was gone it’d felt like someone had died. I was feeling Kelisa like no girl before. Kelisa fucked my mind up for real since I couldn’t understand why she left without telling me. Those were the days when the streets were feeding me well. I was fresh out of high school and Kelisa was too, so shit had all felt brand new. Mama had died a few years before, while Uncle Cal was in and out of jail so Kelisa had been my peace from the storm. Once she was gone life seemed to get worse than ever.

A few months after Kelisa left town I ran into a home girl of Kelisa’s and found out that she had moved back to Jamaica. I stopped looking out for Kelisa around every corner, still the way she left fucked with my peace. Months later, I still couldn’t get Kelisa off my mind, she was one of the first females to ever make me feel that way.

At twenty-two I came up with the bread to start my own label, thanks to Uncle Cal. No one wanted to sign me, so I started Jolly Jam Productions with my Uncle Cal’s accountant Slay. We signed our first artist before we opened our doors, me. My life took on a lot of twists and turns after I recorded my first platinum record. I stayed on the road, since money didn’t come unless I was on my grind.

One of the first trips I made was to Jamaica with my boy J-Money. He was the first rapper I met after I got serious about recording. J-Money took me under his wing and showed me how shit in the music business really worked. Back then I was like a fly on the wall you could see me, only I didn’t move or say shit until somebody got too close.

J-Money knew a lot more than me. His love for the heavy beat had him in high demand. He even had a few shows to do in Jamaica, so I went along thinking the whole time about how to find Kelisa. J-Money said I was crazy, but I asked around hoping to find someone who knew her. It was mission impossible since I didn’t even know what part of the island she slept on. My search came up empty, so I went back home and tried to put Kelisa out of my mind.

A few months later we went back to Jamaica for a party. I was with J-Money again but that time he’d rented out a private resort in Kingston for the weekend. J-Money had planned the shit, I was just along for the ride while enjoying the company of some females who came along. My money wasn’t long back then but by hanging with J-Money my face stayed on the scene. This was about a year after I started Jolly Jam with Slay.

When we made it to the resort we got love from the staff, the manager even came out with a smile on her face to greet J-Money. The seconds our eyes met Kelisa’s smile fell. She looked like she wanted to run, but she stayed and found her smile. She greeted me with a hug then took us on a tour of the property. I tried my best to get Kelisa alone, only she played busy and kept her distance.

I stalked Kelisa until I was able to get her alone. It wasn’t easy since I didn’t know shit about Jamaica. When Kelisa got off work the next day I followed her as she drove to this house down the street. I’d sat in my rental watching and thinking about what I wanted to say when I went to the door, only she came out carrying a child. The baby was small but walking on his own. I sat doing math then followed Kelisa when she drove off. She drove to the other side of the resort and parked at another house. I sat watching her get the baby out then go inside like she lived there.

I followed and tried to knock on her door. As soon as I stepped into the yard these huge ass dogs came out of nowhere. Then a big ass man came from behind the shed with a machete. I damn near shitted on myself but I held my ground.

Kelisa ran out of the house calling the dogs and the dude off by talking shit I couldn’t understand. She then walked by me while telling me to follow her. We walked back to my car where she told me to leave and not come back. She was about to walk off until I asked if the baby was mine. The way she stopped moving told me what I needed to know. Kelisa begged me to leave promising we’d talk later.

The knowledge that I had a son ate at me since I’d been careful not to. Bump all that I had to know why Kelisa hadn’t told me about my son. I saw Kelisa a few more times before she made time to meet up. The night before we left Kelisa sent me a note saying we could meet up on the beach after her shift.

After reading the note, I smoked until my throat hurt while wondering why Kelisa kept my son from me. When we finally met up it was late enough that most of the guests were at the local club so we were alone. When I asked what was up Kelisa cried out some bullshit story that she’d been engaged to another man before we met. Kelisa’s grandfather died forcing her to come home for the funeral. She ended up leaving Atlanta in the middle of the night to make her flight. Kelisa got sick on the ride home and ended up in the hospital. That’s when she found out that she was pregnant. Her family made her stay in Jamaica and pretend the baby was her fiancee’s. The marriage was already planned so Kelisa stayed home and did as she was told.

None of Kelisa’s reasoning made sense since all I wanted to hear was when I could see my son....
