Since his career began, motorcyclist Joey Dunlop has attracted a large audience through his exemplary racing record - 25 wins in 25 years at the TT and five times world champion. This work looks at his life until his death in July 2000.
When Joey Dunlop, undisputed master of the Isle of Man TT, was killed in July 2000, some 50,000 well-wishers attended the funeral, which was broadcast live on Irish television. For the mourning motorcycle road race fans, he was akin to royalty. Mac McDiarmid's biography about the modest Ulsterman - packed with anecdotes, photographs and race information - has sold 19,000 copies since being published in hardback in May 2001.

A former editor of Bike Magazine, Mac McDiarmid has attended every TT since 1976, first as a fan, then as a competitor, and for the past 20 years as a writer and photographer. He edits the annual TT magazine Island Racer, writes TT reports for Motocourse and provides in-depth TT analysis for Motor Cycle News. He lives on The Island.
