This commemorative biography - written in association with the Dunlop family and Honda UK - documents the life and achievements of Irish racing driver, Joey Dunlop, who was killed in July 2000.
When Joey Dunlop, undisputed master of the Isle of Man TT, was killed in July 2000 he was awarded what amounted to an Irish state funeral, uniting a troubled country in grief. The service, attended by cabinet ministers and no less than 50,000 well-wishers, was broadcast live on national television - for the mourning motorcycle road race fans the modest Ulsterman was akin to royalty. This official commemorative biography - written in association with the Dunlop family and Honda UK - will be launched at the 2001 TT week in the Isle of Man, where Dunlop won a record 26 times.

Mac McDiarmid, who witnessed Dunlop's first Isle of Man win in 1977, is a former TT racer himself. He has written nine marque histories, and is the TT correspondent for Motocourse. He lives in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.

The passionate road racer who rode for the love of the sport, whether at high-profile races or to promote humbler events such as the Estonian one which claimed his life.; The people's hero with little time for corporate ephemera, who worked on his own machines and liked nothing better than a pint with his mates after a race.; The man of honour who never signed contracts as his handshake was binding.; The humanitarian, driving across Europe to deliver aid to Albania, Bosnia and Romania - for this he received an OBE to add to the MBE awarded for his racing.; The family man, father of five, running a railway pub in County Antrim.
