Parkinson's disease affects approximately 1.5 million people in the United States alone. Many primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and neurologists who have not had fellowship training in movement disorders could find this book of great help in providing more expert care to this population. Content would include an overview of the physiology and medical management of Parkinson's disease, assessing patient and family needs as the disease progresses, tools to evaluate symptom progression and changes in activities of daily living, and teaching families to cope with the myriad effects that PD can have on mood and cognition. We will also highlight useful complementary medical interventions and nutritional supplements. Another unique feature of the book will be to include tips for utilizing allied health professions often left out of care planning, such as music and art therapists, pastoral care providers, dieticians, and massage therapists. The Table of Contents follows.
