lt;p>Fred R. Volkmar M.D., is the Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Psychology at the Yale Child Study Center, Yale University School of Medicine and the Dorothy Goodwin Family Chair of Special Education at Southern Connecticut State University. An international authority on Asperger's disorder and autism, Dr. Volkmar was the primary author of the DSM-IV autism and pervasive developmental disorders section. He has authored several hundred scientific papers and has co-edited numerous books, including Asperger Syndrome, Healthcare for Children on the Autism Spectrum: A Guide to Medical, Nutritional, and Behavioral Issues, and the recently released third edition of The Handbook of Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders. He serves as associate editor of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and the American Journal of Psychiatry. He also serves as co-chairperson of the autism/MR committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Since 2007. he has served as editor of the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and, more recently, of the Encyclopedia of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Brian Reichow, Ph.D., is an associate professor of special education at the University of Florida. His research interests include the translation of research to practice, the use of systematic review methods and meta-analytic methods to identify evidence-based practices, and applied research involving young children with or at risk of developing disabilities and their families. Currently, Dr. Reichow is co-editor in chief of the Journal of Early Intervention, the leading journal in the field of early childhood special education and early intervention. He is also an associate editor for Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, and Campbell Systematic Reviews and serves on several other editorial boards. Dr. Reichow has received numerous awards and recognition for his work, including the 2010 Council for Exceptional Children, Division of Research Early Career Publication Award. Dr. Reichow has authored more than 75 scholarly articles and chapters. In addition, he is the lead editor for the Handbook of Early Childhood Special Education. Before his graduate and postdoctoral studies at Vanderbilt University and Yale University, respectively, Dr. Reichow received degrees in elementary education and psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a teacher of students with autism in early care and education settings and public elementary schools.

James C. McPartland, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Child Psychiatry and Psychology at the Yale Child Study Center. He is a licensed child psychologist and Director of the Yale Developmental Disabilities Clinic. He is Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Child Study Center and teaches an undergraduate seminar on autism spectrum disorder. Dr. McPartland's program of research investigates the brain bases of neurodevelopmental conditions to develop biologically based tools to improve detection and treatment. His research has been continuously supported since 2007 by both federal (NIMH, NICHD, NINDS, NIDCD; R21, R03, K23, R01, U19) and private (NARSAD, the Autism Science Foundation, the Waterloo Foundation, Autism Speaks, the Patterson Trust, the Simons Foundation, the Nancy Taylor Foundation, the Alan B. Slifka Foundation, the Hilibrand Foundation) research grants. He is the Principal Investigator of the Autism Biomarkers Consortium for Clinical Trials, a U.S.-based effort to identify biomarkers to support intervention research in autism.
