Teach Yourself Zen is an extremely well-known introduction to this type of Buddhism, originally written by Christmas Humphreys, the founder of the Buddhist Society.
This new edition is revised by Stephen Hodge, and includes extensive updates and expansion throughout. It discusses the basic doctrine of Buddhism and the principles of Mahayana Buddhism. Having described the background to the Zen school of Buddhism, it turns to Zen itself and the process of self training.
Stephen Hodge has been a Buddhist since he was 12 years old, and has been teaching at the Buddhist Society for 20 years. He has written many other books in the fields of Buddhism and Philosophy.
