It describes the end-to-end nature of the oil and gas supply chain, and challenges paradigms and accepted ways of working within the industry - such as wastes driven by broken interfaces, naivete regarding supply chains, and the practice that considers re-organisation to be the answer to these challenges - and identifies opportunities to shift this paradigm towards reliability and value.

Moreover, the book shares the authors' front-line experience and encourages readers to consider deploying the solutions presented in their own contexts. The insights from the book's 12 modules are based on personal experiences and are industry-generic, allowing them to be transferred to other MRO supply chains. Sanchay Roy is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in supply chains and lean methods. Currently serving as the Supply Chain Transformation Lead at Shell International, Netherlands, he has previously worked in several sectors outside of oil and gas, including consumer goods and chemicals. He is a global operation, supply chain and continuous improvement expert with a broad background in consumer and professional industries, new product development and business transformations.

Stewart Dunbar has worked in various supply chains for over 30 years, in industries ranging from the upstream energy sector to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). In addition, he has been a supply chain consultant, developing and executing strategies and operational improvements using lean principles. He currently works as the Materials Management Manager for Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria, where he is responsible for all Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)-related material movement and storage in the country.
