In this 87th annual report HM Customs and Excise report that they have achieved or exceeded most of their key objectives while at the same time introducing major changes in structure and the way they work. A series of fundamental expenditure reviews have been completed, with reports on policy work in HQ, the legal service and investigation and intelligence activities being produced this year. Items highlighted in this report include: the publication of the Customs and Excise strategy; completion of the restructuring of regional organizations; the collection of VAT revenue amounting to #43 billion; new targets relating to drugs enforcements; and an initiative to increase international assistance.
