The number of business people, scientists, aid workers, diplomats, technicians, and bureaucrats who now live and work "abroad" has grown dramatically over the past 25 years. Even "at home" the multi-ethnic workforce is a commonplace. As a result the need for cross-cultural communications training is well established. Training materials and programmes to meet that need, however, are few, and this new manual should go a long way towards filling the gap. Its exercises and discussion papers cover all the key issues, from nonverbal behaviour to overcoming prejudice. The manual should enable both experienced and less experienced trainers to conduct effective cross-cultural communications workshops.
