This volume contains edited and updated papers from the 7th International Conference on Inhaled Particles, held in Edinburgh. The publication develops the themes reported in previous volumes and examines areas of research within this multidisciplinary field. Subjects covered include recent work on the deposition and clearance of inhaled particles, biological reactions to dust and the toxicity of asbestos and other mineral fibres. Epidemiological research on the effects of exposure to silica, coal, cadmium, asbestos and other fibres, and to dusts of biological origin is also covered, and chapters are included on environmental pollution and the measurement of dust exposure. This volume should be of use for researchers in the field of inhaled particles and those involved in controlling the effects of dust on workers and the general public.
Section headings and selected papers: Deposition of Inhaled Particles. Mathematical Models. Re gional aerosol deposition in man - a statistic and algebraic model, G. R ' udolf et al. Physical Models.
