This text is a combination of a "how-to" guide and a "plug and play" resource. Liz Brant and Tony Harvey explain the theories behind music in training and help debunk some of the myths. They also provide practical advice on identifying appropriate music and choosing audio equipment. This resource offers a concise guide to the traps associated with music in training. The theory is sufficient to convince anyone who has not used music before to experiment with confidence. By bringing together "proven" tracks for particular applications, the authors should save both novices and experienced users time and money that they would otherwise spend in accumulating CDs from which to draw one or two tracks. The accompanying CD ROM includes 20 tracks (nearly 75 minutes of music). Please note you will need the appropriate PRS and PPL licences in order to use any music in your training. This guide provides details of how to obtain these licences which, once obtained, entitle you to use the music on the CD without further reference to Gower Publishing Limited.

Liz Brant is a UK-based trainer and facilitator, and an accredited NLP practitioner who has used music in training for most of her career. Her consultancy, Pineapple Consulting, provides on-going one-to-one coaching, development and advice to several major corporations in the fields of training and development. Tony Harvey is an experienced independent consultant specializing in management development, human resources consultancy and the training of trainers. Tony runs his own consultancy, THR Consulting and, like Liz, has been an advocate of the use of music in training for many years.
