The use of common and civil law to licence and govern Islamic financial institutions is examined in detail in this book. Professor Rodney Wilson is Director of the Islamic Finance Programme in Durham University. During 2009 and 2010 he was a Visiting Professor at the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies. He has researched on Islamic finance since the 1970s and has written numerous books on the subject for leading international publishers including Edinburgh and Columbia University Presses and Brill. Professor Wilson has extensive consultancy experience including with the Islamic Financial Services Board with respect to its Shariah Governance Guidelines.
