The first edition of "Hospitality Careers" (not published by Hospitality Press) was written as a general introduction to the hospitality industry. The second edition has resulted from strong demand from teachers, students, and careers advisers. In presenting the second edition, planning and preparing for a hospitality career has been covered in more detail. Added to this is more information relating to the introductory training modules defined by the Australian Hospitality Review Panel, making the book useful for both career planning and study at this level. "Hospitality Careers" includes a general description of the Australian industry and its different sectors, as well as the types of job available. The range and diversity of employment possibilities and the skills and training required for these positions are described in some detail. Each chapter opens with Objectives: a summary of topics covered and what should have been learnt once the chapter has been covered. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter encourage students to evaluate what they have read and reinforce understanding.
