This textbook provides comprehensive coverage of parasites and factors affecting their transmission, diagnosis and control. Covering a wide range of species, it includes methods for effective control such as chemotherapy, nutrition, pasture management, selective breeding, vaccination and more, as well as considering anthelmintic resistance.
Parasitism and Parasitic Control in Animals brings together all the details needed to appropriately manage parasites in domestic animals. It provides comprehensive coverage of parasites and factors affecting their transmission, principles of parasite control, diagnosis, and assessment of parasitological information.

Beginning with an overview of the fundamentals of parasitism including a review of the parasites of zoonotic importance, the text then:
- Covers a range of methods for effective parasite control, including chemotherapy, nutrition, pasture management, selective breeding, vaccination and more;
- Considers drug resistance and parasitic infections;
- Includes cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, poultry, pigs and fish, as well as wild animals in the context of intermediate hosts, vectors or as reservoirs of infection.

With numerous new case histories and maps showing the spread of anthelmintic resistance, this textbook forms an essential guide for veterinary practitioners, students and technicians. It is also an invaluable resource for parasitologists, researchers, animal health professionals and anyone working with these parasites in developing countries.

Hafiz Muhammad Rizwan (Edited By) Hafiz Muhammad Rizwan has secured a well-recognized position in the field of Biology/ Parasitology in both the national and international scientific arenas. He conducted his M.Phil. research on sero-epidemiology of goat fascioliasis through ELISA by using ES antigens, and Ph.D. research on association of trace mineral profile with the GI helminthiasis in grazing sheep. He has worked as a Research Associate across various projects encompassing phytotherapy, arthropod functional genomics, and screening livestock through conventional and immunodiagnostic methods.Muhammad Sohail Sajid (Edited By) Muhammad Sohail Sajid completed his F.Sc. (pre-medical) from Govt. Emerson College, Multan and secured silver medal in his DVM degree (2002) from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan. He was appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Parasitology, UAF in 2003, and completed his M.Sc. (Hons.) Parasitology in 2004 and Ph.D. Parasitology in 2007. In 2010, he undertook a post-doc fellowship from the University of Southern Mississippi, USA, funded by the HEC. Through Pak-US S & T Cooperation, he established the Molecular Parasitology Laboratory in UAF. In research, he has mentored many masters and doctorate students, published national and international research papers in peer reviewed journals, as well as written a textbook, two practical manuals, 4 book chapters, numerous abstracts in national and international conference proceedings, as well as 80 extension articles in the national and international press. He has served as Section Editor of the UAF's official Journal "PJAS" (IF-0.690), authored the guidelines "Institutional Animal Care and Use" at UAF, and developed curriculum of Masters of "Climate Change" and "Epidemiology and Public Health". Currently, he is in charge of the One Health Lab., CAS-AFS, as well as Chairman of the Department of Parasitology, UAF. He is a Fulbright Alumnus and was a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Epidemiology, University of California, Davis, USA from 2019-20. His area of interest is molecular epidemiology and control of arthropods and arthropod-borne diseases of livestock and public health significance.
