Broiler chicken is not widely consumed by households in the city of Ouagadougou. The level of consumption varies depending on whether it is an ordinary day or a ceremony. Indeed, 22% of households consume broiler chicken on an ordinary day, while 34% consume it during ceremonies (religious ceremonies, end-of-year celebrations, etc.). However, regardless of price, only 5% of households prefer broiler chicken over "bicycle chicken. The most relevant reason for choosing chicken is taste (86%), with price (8.4%) being a less important reason. In addition, socio-economic factors such as level of education, income level and cooking method of the chicken significantly influence consumption of broiler chicken.
