These recommendations harmonize and develop the methods of preparing and calculating excavations, similar to a set of standards. Furthermore, they help to improve the profitability of excavation constructions.
Die vorliegenden Empfehlungen unterstützen die Arbeit beim Entwurf und bei der Berechnung von Baugrubenumschließungen. Die Empfehlungen mit normenähnlichem Charakter werden vom Arbeitskreis "Baugruben" der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Geotechnik (DGGT) seit 1980 erarbeitet und sind bereits in vier deutschen Auflagen unter dem Titel EAB erschienen.Die Empfehlungen vereinheitlichen die Lastansätze und Berechnungsverfahren. Bei ihrer Beachtung wird die Standsicherheit und Gebrauchstauglichkeit der Baugrubenkonstruktionen und ihrer Einzelteile gewährleistet. Außerdem helfen sie die Wirtschaftlichkeit der Baugrubenkonstruktionen zu verbessern.Für die 2. englische Auflage wurden alle Empfehlungen auf der Grundlage von EN 1997-1 (Eurocode 7) und DIN 1054 gründlich überprüft und soweit erforderlich überarbeitet. Neue Empfehlungen zum Bettungsmodulverfahren, zur Finite-Elemente-Methode und zu Baugruben in weichen Böden wurden aufgenommen.
