This edition combines realistic logic design exercises and computer-aided engineering software from Viewlogic Systems. The class-tested laboratory exercises provide realistic examples of combinational and sequential circuits and are used in a tutorial manner to demonstrate how to use the design entry and analysis tools of Workview Office. Students are given access to the same type and versions of design tools used by practicing engineers allowing them to spend their time developing a sound understanding of theory and design principles rather than wasting time manually constructing and debugging circuits in the lab. They can draw circuit designs using the ViewDraw schematic editor and then perform extensive analysis using the ViewSim gate level simulator. As the circuit is tested, ViewSim back-annotates the circuit drawing with the new digital logic values at all nodes, providing solid feedback on how a circuit is actually performing during tests and making fault finding easy.
