This book provides comprehensive studies from Middle East, African countries and Asia including Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, India, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia and Turkey on groundwater management, modelling and monitoring. A broad approach such as modelling, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical models was applied in arid and semi-arid areas for management of the groundwater. These new approaches are currently in high demand. The book delves into the applications of these methods and will be a potential asset to the researchers worldwide. The book is a timely publication containing chapters based on primary data or/and extensive review chapters comprising new emerging techniques. Current high-demand research on management through the application of modelling, artificial intelligence and machine learning is the main selling point of this book.

Dr. Shakir Ali is a senior research fellow in the Department of Geology, University of Delhi, Delhi, India. He works on the groundwater global contaminants, particularly fluoride. With more than twenty research articles, he has received more than 700 google scholar citations till date. He earned master degrees in hydrogeology from Indian institute of Technology Bombay and University of Delhi and submitted his Ph.D. at University of Delhi. He has more than ten years of research and teaching experience in the field of hydrogeology.

Dr. Asaad Mater Armanuos is an associate professor at Tanta University, Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University, Tanta, Egypt. His background is in Civil Engineering as he graduated from Civil Engineering Dept. in 2008 and worked as a demonstrator in the same faculty in 2008 also. He got his M.Sc. in 2013 from Tanta University in groundwater hydrology with title: Use of double sheet piles to control the contaminant transport through the soil. He got an Egyptian government full scholarship for Ph.D. study, E-JUST from 2014 to 2017 in environmental engineering department and spent one year at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, as an apart of his Ph.D. scholarship. He has received more than 460 google scholar citations till date. He participated as a reviewer for more than twenty high ranked international journals. His research interest is related to groundwater contamination control, water resources management, saltwater intrusion control, and groundwater engineering, groundwater hydraulics, and groundwater hydrology.
