Semiconductor Physics and Devices provides an introduction to the physics of semiconductor materials and devices. The text is supported by a large number of examples and exercises to test the understanding of topics.
Semiconductor Physics and Devices provides an introduction to the physics of semiconductor materials and devices. Intended for undergraduate students of engineering, this book will also prove to be a useful reference for engineers and scientists who require an understanding of the phyics of semiconductor devices.

Beginning with the basic physics, the book provides a comprehensive coverage of semiconductor fundamentals, the pn junction and devices such as BJT and FET and ends with a discussion on optoelectronic, microwave and power electronic devices. The book also discusses current topics such as bandgap engineering.

Dr S.S. Islam is currently Reader in the department of Applied Sciences and coordinator of the M.Sc. Electronics Programme, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jami Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. He obtained his M.Sc. in Radio Physics & Electronics from Burdwan University, West Bengal, and M.Phil. and Ph.D in Material Science from the University of Paris, France. His research interests include spectroscopic investigation of quantum structures, and electrical characterisation of high speed nano-devices. Dr Islam has several research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings to his credit. He has guided a large number of postgraduate students for their Master's and doctoral theses. He has conducted several sponsored reserach projects funded by AICTE and the UGC. _
