Nicola Ruggieri, PhD, is an architect who specializes in historical timber structures and construction history. He was the Italian delegate at the European Cooperation in Science and Technology Action FP1101 – Assessment, Reinforcement and Monitoring of Timber Structures. He has been a member of the scientific committee of numerous international conferences, is the author of more than 100 publications and has taught at several universities (such as the Universities of Calabria, Sapienza, Roma Tre, Florence, Ferrara and Naples, all in Italy). From 2015 to 2018, he was a member of the Segreteria Tecnica di Progettazione of the Parco Archeologico di Pompei, Italy. Since 2019, he has been an expert member of the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH) at the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), and of the International Wood Committee (IIWC), also at ICOMOS. He has been an official of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage since 2018.
