Progress in Floating Photovoltaic Systems reflects the huge growth underway in floating photovoltaic systems, covering the latest technologies, new ideas, and practical solutions currently available in the sector in order to support further developments and implementation. The book begins by introducing floating PV, its potential, and its role as the third pillar of photovoltaics, alongside land and roof. This is followed by in-depth chapters detailing materials and design of structures, tracking systems, cooling, cleaning systems, snow load and evaporation, mooring systems, PV modules and uses, hydroelectric coupling, wind load and wave impact, and offshore solutions. The book's final chapters provide measurements of existing plants, economic and financial analysis, and detailed information on environmental impact and mitigation. This book is a valuable resource for researchers, graduate students, R&D professionals, electrical engineers, power engineers and practitioners involved in photovoltaics, solar energy, and renewable energy.

Marco Rosa-Clot completed his studies at Scuola Normale with 110/110 et laude in 1966. Subsequently, he was a researcher at Columbia University, New York, from 1968 to 69, Prof. of Quantum Physics and General Physics in Pisa from 1969 to 1987, researcher in the Theoretical Division at CERN from 1975 to 1978, Full Professor of Nuclear Physics at Florence University from 1988 to 2009, and Scientific Director of CRS4 (Sardinia) from 1998 to 2003. Since 2014, he has been Scientific Director of private companies UPF (Upsolar Floating) and KMM (Koiné MultiMedia). Dr. Rosa-Clot is the author of more than 120 works published in international reviews, on theoretical physics, nuclear physics, econophysics, environment and energy problems, of which 40 are on floating PV, and is co-author of two books on floating PV technology. Giuseppe Marco Tina is a Full Professor in Power Systems at the University of Catania (UdC), in Italy. He completed his MS (1988) and Ph.D. (1988) in Electrical Engineering at University of Catania. He completed industrial experience with Agip Refineries and ST Microelectronics in Italy, between 1993 and 1996. Prof. Tina teaches courses mainly for the Electrical Engineering MSc., and in 2012 was awarded the Diploma di Excelentia in teaching and research in power systems from University “Stefan cel Mare”, Suceava, Romania). He has been Invited Professor at Aix-Marseille University and University Jules Verne Amiens, both in France. He is a member of IEA Task 60 on PVT systems and (until 2021) IEA PVPS IEA Task 15. He is the Author of more than 250 works published in international journals and proceedings, on power system analysis, distributed generation, photovoltaic system analysis and modelling, of which 40 are on floating PV, and is co-author of two books on floating PV technology.
